Look Ahead are to announce delighted that our Barnsley Street Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre has been Highly Commended in the Community Benefit category at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) UK Awards 2026 Grand Final.
The recognition, announced at the ceremony in London on 22 October, celebrates the centre’s positive impact in supporting better mental health outcomes for individuals, the wider community, and local NHS services, alongside the transformation of existing Look Ahead properties into a welcoming, accessible and psychologically informed but non-clinical space for mental health support.
Following its Community Benefit category win at the RICS London Awards in July, this latest achievement puts Barnsley Street’s community-based approach to mental health services in the national spotlight.
Based in Bethnal Green, the centre brings together Look Ahead, the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) and the Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance to provide support in the community and is the first service of its kind in England.
The project was made possible through collaboration between our support and property teams, our health and community partners, NHS England and contractors Chas Berger, GDS Chartered Surveyors and architectural lead Jason Danziger at thinkbuild architecture BDA, who also advised as a Therapeutic Atmosphere Design Consultant.
We are proud to see this shared work recognised nationally. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing Barnsley Street into being and delivering support that makes a difference to people’s mental health and wellbeing every day.
