Young people and care leavers

We support young people, including those with experience of care, to build the skills and confidence they need to live independently and thrive.

Many of the young people we support face complex challenges. These may stem from difficult childhoods, experiences of abuse, violence or exploitation, or issues related to mental health, substance use, past offences, or arriving in the UK as unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC).

Whatever their background, we believe in their potential – and with the right support, they can achieve great things.

Our services

We have been supporting young people for nearly 40 years.

As an Ofsted-registered provider, we offer a wide range of services including supported housing, floating support, young parent services, and semi-independent living placements.

Semi-Independent Accommodation (SIA)

Our SIA services provide tailored support for young people aged 16–21 (and up to 24 where needed), including young parents and UASC. These placements are spot-purchased, allowing us to work flexibly with any local authority.

Support is trauma-informed and person-centred, with young people actively involved in shaping their environment – from choosing furniture to planning activities. We work closely with social workers and personal advisers to help local authorities meet their corporate parenting responsibilities.

Supported housing services

We offer a range of supported housing options:

Hostel services: For young people who may be homeless, leaving care, or exiting the criminal justice system. We help them stabilise, access specialist services, and move on – usually within two years – to independent accommodation.

Step-down and visiting support: For those ready to take the next step, we offer shared housing with visiting support teams. These services help young people transition to full independence.

Floating support

We support young people living in a variety of settings – alone, with friends, or with family. Our teams provide practical help with managing a home and building the confidence to live independently.

Parent and child services

Our specialist services support young mothers from pregnancy through early parenthood. We help them navigate the challenges of raising a child, build strong support networks, and develop healthy family relationships.

Empowering young people to thrive

Key to our approach for young people is our Lifeskills Programme, co-developed by our customers and staff.  Mapped to the Government’s Care Leavers’ Strategy, it focuses on building skills and confidence in the different areas professionals look at when assessing a young people’s ability to live independently. This includes emotional wellbeing, skills, training and work, health, finances, relationships and their living environment.

We support each young person:

  • To be aspirational, encouraging them to believe they can and will succeed
  • With care and compassion, building trust over time
  • To build their skills, access training and get into work
  • As an adult on equal terms, clear about expectations, rights and responsibilities
  • To recognise and build strong, healthy and safe relationships
  • Fairly and consistently, openly challenging negative patterns of behaviour
