Megan’s story

First joining the organisation as a Contract Manager, Megan is now involved in designing and delivering mental health services that promote our customers' wellbeing.

Megan recently presented the awards at our 2019 Customer Celebration Event.

As an Operations Manager I am responsible for one of Look Ahead’s three mental health patches. My patch  covers our mental health services in Islington, Camden, Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon. Some of these services are commissioned by local authorities, and some by NHS trusts.

My job is to support our local managers and ensure that they are delivering safe services of a high standard. A key aspect of my role is building relationships between Look Ahead, the commissioners and the mental health care teams or trusts we work with.

I’ve been at Look Ahead since March 2015 and I like the fact that we’re known for our approach to coproduction and that we’re innovative in our approach to engaging customers. My job is pretty full on. Everyday is different and can involve anything from meeting with customers to attending meetings with commissioners and other external stakeholders.  I spend a lot of time running around London! For me that’s one of the best things about my job, I enjoy the challenge and the fact that no day or week is the same.

I first joined Look Ahead as a Contract Manager in Croydon and over the past four years the organisation has really supported me to develop and progress within the organisation. I’ve completed the ILM level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management. I also recently completed a six month Leadership Coaching programme which has really helped me in my role.

Although I now spend less time with individual customers day-to-day, it’s rewarding being involved in designing and delivering services that promote wellbeing for the individuals we support. One of my highlights this year  has  has been presenting awards at our annual customer celebration event. It was great to hear their stories and celebrate our customers’ achievements.
