Look Ahead has used the arts as an integral part of its work supporting vulnerable people for almost 15 years. It continues to engage, motivate and inspire our customers from a wide variety of backgrounds, including those that have in the past proved ‘hard to reach’.

We use the arts, in its widest forms, as a means of encouraging customer involvement and community engagement, whilst at the same time developing the confidence, skills and life opportunities of the people we support.

We have found that our arts programme provides a rare opportunity for vulnerable people to express their creativity and in the company of professional artists to achieve extraordinary things. It also provides a unique opportunity to change public perceptions of what vulnerable people are capable of achieving.

We provide a range of exciting arts opportunities for our customers including participatory arts projects, ambitious public art commissions and an innovative youth arts programme.

The programme is developed by a professional arts manager, with the direct input of staff and customers. It is funded through external grants and the generosity of the arts organisations we work in partnership with.
